The Furminator Fights Allergies!

Pets are wonderful companions, unfortunately being allergic isn't so wonderful. But many people find that the benefits of having a pet far outweigh a little puffiness around the eyes and some sneezing. One third of people who own cats, are actually allergic!

So if you're one of the brave allergic ones that decided to get a pet anyway, one thing you can do to minimize your suffering is daily brushing and wiping with a damp cloth. This can fight dander, which is what triggers allergies. One tool you might want to check out is the Furminator, shown above. Although, this tool works great with pets with short coats, don't expect the same if your pet has a very long thick coat.

Is a another great Planet-Pets.com website designed to find dog grooming businesses, in every state. And once you find your state, here are some questions that the Humane Society suggests you ask before taking your pet there:

  • Is the facility well-lit?
  • Does it look and smell clean?
  • Does the staff appear knowledgeable and caring? Do they handle pets gently?
  • Are cages adequately sized? Are dogs and cats caged in separate areas?
  • Are pets monitored regularly to prevent overheating during blow-drying?
  • Does the groomer keep complete pet records (including grooming, medical, vaccination, and emergency contact information)?
