Amazing Animals Facts To Check Out!

Some snakes have as many as 200 teeth, a lot more than people.

***

Ants are among the longest living insects in the world. Although most types of worker ants live from several months to a few years, the queen ant can survive up to 20 years! Compare these life spans with those of a common housefly (about 2 months), a rabbit (about 10 years), and a dog (usually 2-15 years).

***

Dolphins swim in circles while they sleep with the eye on the outside of the circle open to keep watch for predators. After a certain amount of time they reverse and swim in the opposite direction with the opposite eye open.

***

There are approximately 350 squirts in a gallon of milk

***

In ancient Rome auburn-haired puppies were sacrificed to ensure a plentiful corn crop.

***

The word "puppy" comes from the French poupee, meaning "doll."

Harry Potter Cursed with Cat Spell!!!!

Could it be?
Could the famous "Harreeee Potttaah" have succumbed
to such a silly spell?

Hahahah.. no. It's Howl'ween time! And that means many of our fuzzy buddies are going to be dusting off their best costumes to dawn on the 31st of October - Fright Night!
It's amazing to me to see the trend of pet costumes grow so quickly. It wasn't but 3 weeks ago that I already started to see costumes starting to take up shelf space in my local brand name pet store. That felt like seeing Christmas lights before Thanksgiving!

But it's true. More and more of us crazy pet owners are spending what can amount to quite a bit of money to have a creative, professional costume for our four legged sidekick. You don't tend to see many cats, mostly dogs all done up for the occasion though.

Here's some really cute pictures of pet in costume for your enjoyment!

Pet DNA Testing... On the Next Maury Povich...

Ok.. so you're not really going to flick on the television and see two dogs shouting and swinging at each other on some cheap stage set somewhere in Los Angeles. Nope, that's not going to happen. But what is becoming more and more likely is that when you go to get yourself a new pet (typically dog or cat), you will have access to DNA testing to see what the breed combination ACTUALLY is that you're purchasing.
Not only is the technology becoming more available, but most importantly, the cost is dropping dramatically. In some instances, the cost of the test can be as little as $65! More expensive and ultimately more accurate blood testing can range from $100 to $200 per test.
No longer will you have to take a wild guess at what your dog actually is. Is it a boxer or a pitbull? Collie or a terrier? Leave the guessing game for the crystal ball palm readers, you'll know EXACTLY the percentage of which breed is included in your purchase.

Walk 1,400 Miles In These Puppy's Shoes... Could You?

Kobe the Amazing Terrier... or dare I say "Terror" has finally been brought back to his native California home this week after having gone on an incredible 1,400 mile journey into Texas.
He went missing last month, and his family assumed he'd disappeared for good. That was until a stranger in Denton, Texas found him and brought him to a vet where they found his owner's information stored in a microchip implanted in his neck.
According to the company who manufactures the chips, an average of 1,200 stray animals a day are returned to their homes.
They've placed their implants in almost 2 million cats and dogs in America to date.

Two Headed Turtle Invades Pennsylvania!

In Norristown, PA, a pet shop owner has bought a two-headed, or more commonly known as a conjoined turtle to be put on display in his store. It's only two months old, and is the size of a silver dollar!
It has two heads, poking out from either side of the shell, two sets of front feet, but only set of hind legs and one tail. Apparently it's in perfect health and is expected to live up to 15-20 years!
The pet shop owner also told reporters that the same Florida rare turtle collector sold them a conjoined turtle about 20 years ago.
